At The Service Of Our Community

We care about you and the community we live in. Supporting charities has been important to us since our founding.

I grew up in a family where a top priority for my grandparents was the support of their churches. For my father, it was the support and involvement in Boy Scouts, the Tri-Village Lions Club, Pilot Dogs, Jaycees, The Chamber of Commerce and the Community Camp. Their service in the community set a tone that we have continued at Atlas Butler today.

I can remember the privilege of knocking on doors to sell light bulbs for the Tri-Village Lions Club and Pilot Dogs when I was 10 years old (my father was right behind me of course). When I was 22 and I first started working at Atlas Butler, one of the first activities I was introduced to by my brother, Steve, was a Jaycees meeting. We had a lot of fun from creating “Rally in the Alley,” where the Jaycees were given a permit to sell beer on the streets of downtown Columbus for Happy Hour on Friday nights, to working at the Regatta on Griggs Reservoir as well as having the opportunity of Chairing the Ohio Hugh O’Brien Youth Foundation Student Leadership Conference.

The most notable things I remember from those early days is the beginning of the Boy Scouts oath, “On my honor I will do the best to do my duty for God and my country” and the ending of the Jaycee Creed, “Service to humanity is the best work of life!” These have, still do and I believe always will inspire me to get out of bed every morning with an attitude of how can I be of service to others today so we can all work together to improve the world we live in.

We have many people who are part of the Atlas Butler team who are involved in the community in many ways. Some of our top priorities that we have supported with “work, wealth or wisdom” over the past few years have been with the following organizations:

  • Salvation Army
  • Kiwanis Club of Columbus
  • United Way
  • Multiple Sclerosis Society
  • The James Cancer Hospital
  • Mount Carmel Foundation
  • Columbus Rotary
  • The Wellness Community
  • Atlas Butler Student Awards
  • Pilot Dogs
  • Chamber of Commerce
  • The Ohio State University
  • American Lung Association
  • Saint Stephen’s Community House
  • Better Business Bureau

We will continue to support these organizations and many more, and we hope you will join us.

Sincerely,
Mark Swepston
